However, the [Weird Explorer] website does an excellent job of having a huge number of fruits from around the world that showcases a glimpse into the diverse world of fruits. Also, he does a great job of creating videos, giving taste tests, letting us know more information about each fruit, and this may help encourage people to decide to grow those fruits.
For the edibility of fruits and vegetables of each item, these are general guidelines, but by no means are the final authoritative information. As always, do your own research online. Some species of fruits and vegetables may be edible or have edible parts, while the cultivars of the same group may not have the same edible parts. For example, bamboo is listed as having edible shoots, but not all bamboo cultivar shoots are edible. Some fruit and vegetable parts are listed as edible raw. However, this may not always be the case for certain cultivars, may be toxic in large portions, may be toxic if consumed for long periods of time, or may only be edible raw at certain stages of growth. Also, some food eaten raw may not be compatible with children, pregnant women, elderly, people with sensitive stomachs, allergies, preexisting conditions, or people on certain types of medication. Some vegetables might have more nutrients raw, but cooking them might make those vegetables easier to digest and absorb their nutrients.
Parts of fruit trees and vegetable plants are considered tradition in cultures to eat certain parts raw or cooked, but may be toxic, poisonous, or harmful to humans in the long term. Do not accept cultural norms as reason that these things are safe. People may use the argument that they have been eating some of these parts for years with no issues. I have met people that smoked cigarettes for decades that never had any issues, but this does not make cigarettes any less toxic and dangerous to humans.
Also, know where your fruits and vegetables are coming from. Normally, foods that can be eaten raw may have issues with foodborne pathogens and bacteria and must be cooked because of the conditions in which that particular fruit or vegetables grew. This is especially true for places like China (locally sourced foods from known toxic environments) and South East Asian countries with far less stringent regulations. For example, salmon in Japanese cuisine uses "raw" fish for consumption, but this does not mean that we should go around eating fresh raw fish without proper education and information. Japanese "raw" sashimi is not actually "raw", but processed raw fish that has made the fish safe for consumption "raw", farm raised fish, or fish known to be edible raw (the source known too. As a matter of fact, Japanese people take pride in knowing where their fish came from and many other details.)

People all over the world and for hundreds and hundreds of years have worked hard to cultivate some of the best fruits and vegetables, as well as fruits and vegetables with various and unique properties. Some garlic are better for your heart than others, some melons are sweeter than others, some corn is used for popcorn and some corn is used for boiling and eating, some mangoes are larger than others, some peanuts are better for roasting and some are better for peanut butter, some fruit trees are better at tolerating less rain, and many other properties. There is a strawberry mint which is a mint plant that smells like strawberries. There is a leak called elephant garlic that is enormous compared to regular garlic, and elephant garlic contains the same chemical allicin as regular garlic. Check out this romanesco broccoli. There is a kiwi called hardy kiwi that does not have the hair-like outside, and we can eat the skin too. Even within Thailand, was the first time I came across orange crush jackfruit. (Note: I want to mention something to be clear. I do comparisons to the US because I was raised in the US. I do make commentary about how areas in Myanmar and Thailand are lacking things, but does this mean that all of the US has these things? Not at all. The things that I say here may be how things are changing in the US. The future is happening now. When I talk about the diversity of passion fruit out there, does this mean that in the US we have access to all of the different types of passion fruits to eat? No. But this is changing as more and more Americans raise production in their areas and start to create things, grow things, and make things. This is not new. In fact, American's have shifted in so many ways to being entrepreneurs. Myanmar and Thailand can live in the same future as these developed countries, or wait until these trends appear more abundantly in their locations. I say things so that all over Myanmar, Thailand, and SEA do what these developed countries are doing now.
Think about craft beers. I can easily show you a list of the 100 different craft beers, and no one can argue the diversity. If I talk about the diversity of passion fruit and people talk about how the US does not have these passion fruit cultivars, then they are living in a world where we currently do not have 100 craft beers yet, and telling you that "lots of passion fruit? That's impossible. No one has that many passion fruits. They barely sell one variety of passion fruits in stores now in the US." Their limitation is their limitation, not your limitation. Their lack of vision is not your lack of vision. All kind of fruit cultivars are being grown by small growers, and like craft breweries, these too will become normal in America. Think big! Understand how these small simple concepts will scale into larger systems. These are a few of the many things I try and teach over and over and over again. Simplicity to complexity and scaling. In the US, we are seeing farmers markets with far more diverse and exotic products. Yes, many produce markets may not have that much diversity, but this is changing. Here is cauliflower rice as a rice substitute. We can use this in place of rice in most recipes.
When these technologies enter more US locations, Myanmar and Thailand can join in that development because these locations are mirroring those technologies and trends. If we can get Myanmar and Thailand to grow far more raw products and make these resources more readily available, then as the culture and trend shifts toward production, we can easily meet those demands. If we do not do what I am saying in regards to agriculture, then the possibility of places in SEA being stuck in the cycle of "I saw Youtube videos on how to make all sorts of things, but we do not have things to make them with. We do not have things to make them with because nobody tries to make anything, so I do not grow anything." We have to break these cycles. My ideas are not always about now. My ideas are looking years and decades ahead. Also, my ideas are not always so apparent as to their current benefits, but they link to other systems and create a larger system that will continuously grow and develop. These are some of the things that I say only to give you a glimpse into that future, but that future depends on all of you.)
